In line with the UK Governments commitment to online provision of information Directgov brings together the widest range of public service information and services online.

Produced by the Central Office of Information, Directgov provides information from across UK government departments on topics ranging from travel safety and parental leave to special educational needs and local NHS services.

The site also brings together an increasing number of online government services to make your life easier – from booking a driving test and taxing your car to renewing your passport or applying for a student loan.

You can browse by topics – including money, employment, travel and transport, and education – or by audience groups, such as disabled people, the over 50s, and parents. Or you can use the search engine to find content directly.

The site also gives you access to government directories, as well as links to relevant third parties who can offer additional trusted advice and support.

As a first port of call for anyone looking for relevant government (local or central) information this is a great place to start.

As the content on Directgov is ”protected material (other than the Royal Arms and departmental or agency logos and photography)  [it] may be reproduced free of charge in any format or medium, provided it is reproduced accurately and not used in a misleading context” you will find the relevant sections of the Directgov website on – along with the relevant link to the original page on the Directgov website.
