I can’t quite believe that I haven’t put a post up about this charity before now. Considering we attended their excellent speech therapy sessions at the Langdon Down Centre (I think they have moved from there now) for a number of years when my son was younger.

As they say on their website “21 & Co is a support group in Surrey and South West London dedicated to giving support to families who have children with Down syndrome.” But they doa lot more than that:

Coffee Mornings
First Friday of each month at Norbiton Children’s Centre. An opportunity to socialise and share information and stories whilst the children also socialise and have fun with each other and their siblings.

Social Communication and Interaction groups
It is diificlut to get the required levels of speech and language support for children with speech and language issues. So this is a fantastic service. 21 & Co use trained communication therapists to work closely with the children and use proven methods to support and encourage the development of the children’s communication, speech and language skills.

Drama groups
From about 7 – 8 years children can join the Drama groups which aim to build on the skills they’ve developed in their social communication groups. The Drama groups run on a Monday evening at the Langdon Down Centre in Teddington which has a fabulous stage.

Sibling Art group
My daughter loved her time in the sibling group, run for the brothers and sisters of children with Down syndrome. It gives them the chance to chat to their peers about being a sibling to a child with Down syndrome if they want and to make new friends and have fun.

Youth Club
The youth club is open to any children aged 11+ and is held on Saturday mornings for 4 hours.

Talks and Workshops
Working with Down Syndrome Education International 21 & Co run sessions on a wide range of subjects, all based on scientific and practical experience.

Social Events
Held throughout the year 21 & Co hold lots of social events to get everyone together, including family fun days, summer picnics, pottery evenings, Children’s parties, pub evenings and every 18 months they hold a fundraising ball.
